An Open Letter to My Patients
Dear Holly Springs Eye & Laser family,
Thank you.
Every time you walk through our doors, schedule an appointment, or send a nervous text about a new symptom, you are trusting me and my team with something priceless: your ability to see the people and world you love. I don’t take that lightly for a single moment.
When I chose ophthalmology, it was because I was struck by how quickly restoring or protecting vision can change someone’s life. I’ve seen patients come in worried they will no longer be able to drive safely, read a book, recognize a loved one’s face across the room, or keep doing the work they love. Then, after the right treatment or surgery, I’ve watched those same patients light up when they realize they can see clearly again. Their shoulders relax. Their voice changes. The world opens back up.
Those are the moments that fuel everything we do here.
As a cataract, cornea, and vision correction surgeon, I care deeply about the technical side of what I do. I’ve spent years training, operating, studying, and staying up to date on advances in cataract surgery, corneal disease, and refractive surgery. Precision matters: the measurements we take, the lenses we choose, the techniques we use in the operating room. But at the center of all that science and technology is you—a real person with fears, hopes, and a life you’re trying to fully live.
Holly Springs Eye & Laser was built with that in mind. I wanted a practice where:
Whether you are coming in for a routine eye exam, struggling with severe dry eye, managing diabetes, facing cataract surgery, or exploring vision correction like LASIK, my promise is the same: I will treat your eyes the way I would treat the eyes of my own family. That means being honest about what you need and what you don’t need, walking you through risks and benefits, and respecting your preferences every step of the way.
I also know that eye problems can be frightening. The idea of losing vision—or having eye surgery—is emotional and deeply personal. If you feel anxious sitting in my exam chair, please know that you are not alone. Part of my job is to slow things down, listen to what you’re worried about, and make a plan that feels safe and thoughtful, not rushed or pressured.
I’m proud to call North Carolina home and to care for patients from Holly Springs, Fayetteville, and the surrounding communities. It is important to me that you don’t have to travel far away or feel lost in a big hospital system to receive advanced eye care. Our goal is to bring high-level, fellowship-trained expertise into your community—combined with the warmth of a small, local practice that knows your name.
To my current patients: thank you for the privilege of caring for you and your families. Every story you share—reading to your grandchildren again, driving at night with confidence, working without constant eye strain, waking up and seeing clearly without reaching for glasses—reminds me why this work matters.
To those I haven’t met yet: if something about your vision is worrying you, or if you’re simply ready to take the next step toward clearer sight, I would be honored to be part of your journey. Bring your questions, your concerns, and your goals. We’ll take the time to listen, guide, and help you make the decision that’s best for your eyes and your life.
It is one of the great honors of my life to care for your vision. Thank you for trusting me and my team at Holly Springs Eye & Laser.
With gratitude,
Faraaz Khan, MD
